Greetings everyone.

I wanted to pass on a pretty important tip for troubleshooting QMaster and QClusters.

I had been experimenting with QClusters for a couple of months now, and at first everything was working just great, however, not too long ago, some of my service nodes stopped sharing services, even thought QMaster preferences was indicating that services were still running.

I went through logs, checked firewalls, however, there is one undocumented way to reset QMaster services.

-Open the QMaster preference pane in System Preferences.

-Authenticate to make changes to the pane and "Stop Sharing" if sharing is still running.

-Once Sharing has stopped, press and hold the Option key.  The Start Sharing button will turn to Reset Services, click that then click OK on the dialogue that follows.

-Start Sharing services again.  That should get QMaster back on its feet.

I also recommend picking up Brian Gary's Compressor 3 Quick-Reference Guide as it not only covers setting up a clusters but clarifies a lot of information about Compressor and compression in general. Yeah, I like my books.

How could I forget that book?  Especially since its the one that got me going with Clustering.  Fantastic resource.
